We are officially well into the new year and therefore it is time to say “bye felicia” to some of the design trends that we have been seeing over the past few years and hello to new styles that will come into play during 2018. I have rounded up a few design trends that I see making a big mark in the upcoming months. I think that 2018 will be a time for experimentation and bold outlooks. Over the past few years, interiors have been gorgeous with clean contemporary spaces, unearthed objects, white walls and greenery accents. I think though that the time has come to really shake things up. Maximalism influences will definitely be coming into play through the use striking wallpaper and vibrant wall colours (just see Pantone’s choice for their 2018 colour of the year). Rich textures like velvet will be a big hit and dare I say it … 80’s inspired interior decor will be having a comeback. This year will be the time to design with interesting decor objects, patterns and hues. Moroccan rugs will be changed for lush graphic designs and tonal colours will be the new way to add drama to your space. Take a look at my thoughts for 2018 design trends, it is set to be a bold one!
